Magic Carpets

by Shane Kalminski

Disney movies are filled with lessons about life and love, and among them, one undisputable classic is the tale of Aladdin.

Now, most people think Aladdin is a story about destiny and beating the odds… but if you really pay attention, Aladdin simply proves to us that the right carpet has the potential to change your life.

Let’s examine the evidence:

Hero finds Cave. Meets a Magic Carpet.

Carpet leads Hero to the Lamp. Cave implodes.

Carpet saves Hero.

Carpet leads Hero to lamp AGAIN.

Hero meets Genie from lamp. Hero becomes Prince.

Hero Prince tries to woo Princess.

She rejects.

Hero Prince tries to woo Princess ON A MAGIC CARPET.

She accepts.

Need I go on?

The idea that a carpet can change lives isn’t entirely a Disney (or my own) convention. In the case of Linie Design and the Care & Fair Organization, the carpets you purchase for your home or work actually are making magic happen.

Founded in 1994 by socially responsible leaders in the carpet industry, Care and Fair is on a mission to end child labor in India, Pakistan and Nepal by increasing access to education and building schools.

BoConcept is proud to source our rugs through Danish sub-supplier, Linie Designs. Through this partnership, we have been able to donate enough money to run a school in India that provides a safe-haven for 350 Indian children to learn, grow and have fun. A right every child deserves.
