Behind the Scenes: Rugs

by Shane Kalminski

A lot of work goes into creating beautiful handmade rugs.

One technique that allows for creativity is tufting. Tufting a rug allows the makers to include details and designs to make something unique and captivating.

To start tufting a rug, the designs are drawn onto the cotton base and yarn is shot through from the back.

After the rug is completed with the desired look, another layer of cotton is glued to the back and the yarn is cut down by hand so that they’re all the same height.

It takes one week to make a tufted rug from start to finish, but the craftsmanship and attention to detail make the new BoConcept tufted rug collection worth waiting for!

Check out this video that shows some of the hard-work that goes into making a rug!
